Mine, Mine, Mine!

Anyone recognize the title from the Disney movie?
We were on an area of the beach where we could feed the birds some chips without disturbing the other sunbathers.  This is the last of my Free to be Me paper pack (retired).  I used the feather vellum to cover the feather print and tone it down a bit.  The new Glacier cover goes great with it (the feathers in the background).

New Organization for My Stamps

My collection of stamps is growing!
I'm trying something new.  Each box has been separated and labeled with a small sticker in the corner.  If you return the used stamp to it's proper box and place in the front of the box, eventually the popular stamps will float to the front.  The hope is it'll be easier to locate the stamp set you are looking for.

Let me know how you like it!

Picture My Life Buffet

Ever thought about pocket scrapbooking?  That's where the protective covers are blocked off into sections and all you do is slide in your photos and your journaling.  Close to My Heart offers 13 themes to compliment your pictures in this super easy, super quick way to preserve your memories.  These programs are called Picture My Life and each set comes with 122 cards and 10 page protectors for $24.95.  On Thursday, September 25, I'll be hosting a Picture My Life Buffet, where you can purchase cards for $.25 each and protective pages for $1 each.  Mix and match - with just what you need!  The PML styles can be found on pages 146-149 of the catalog.  If  you love a current paper pack - like the Chalk It Up or Seaside, consider ordering a PML matching set this month to take advantage of the $3 special!

Featured Kit for September

The featured kit at the September crop (20th) is the Chalk It Up kit.  This is a great kit for school days, but the papers showcase doodles, chalkboard prints, circles, arrows and stars in some great colors - Sorbet, Lagoon and the new Flaxen.

Color Dare #106

Fastest tape in the South!  Card workshop was wonderful, then Honey came home and I ran an errand with him, then whipped this card out in less than 10 minutes - but still didn't make the deadline!  Simple card with the Wings, retired paper and ribbon, the September stamp of the month and a few silver sequins.  Check out the other entries at the CTMH Color Dare site!

Well Shoot!

This is a double layout without pictures of people.  I do have a picture of a sign, because I find it hard to scrap without pictures of some kind. Hurricane attends a summer camp where she takes archery as one of her activities.  This is using the Timberline paper pack and the new stamp set called Glitter Girl (B1465, $9.95, on page 151 of the idea book).  The title comes from her letter, where she attempted to be King this year, but fell a few points short during the contest.  What do you think of the target O's?

Family is Forever, September SOTM

This layout is using the September stamp of the month and the Pathfinding paper pack.

The cuts are pretty simple:
Left Page
3.5" square olive paper
3" strip chocolate leaves
.25" strip olive and glacier berry paper (used the edge of the paper after cutting design on Cricut)
Half the filigree design, page 66, 11"
2 mats; 4X6 chocolate, 3 7/8 X 5 7/8 olive (inner mat 1/8 inch smaller than outer)
Right page:
3.5" square chocolate paper
6" strip chocolate leaves
.25" strip olive and glacier berry paper (used the edge of the paper after cutting design on Cricut)
Half the filigree design
2 mats; 4X6 chocolate, 3 7/8 X 5 7/8 olive (inner mat 1/8 inch smaller than outer)
2 mats: 3.5X3.5 chocolate, 3 3/8 X 3 3/8 olive (inner mat 1/8 inch smaller than outer)

Family is Forever, September SOTM (S1409)
Art booking cartridge (Z1906)
Pathfinding paper pack (X7186B)
Bling Gems, Gold (Z2023)
Baker's twine, Olive, retired - try Chocolate Metallic instead (Z1921)

Tip - I loved the negative space left by the filigree design, but it was backwards on the mat; I would have glued the glacier side down and ended up with a olive green design.  If you would like to do the glue and retrieve for the negative space, consider putting the glacier side down when you cut the design.

Finished up scrapbooking this years Convention pictures, using the retired Dream Pop paper.  I put a little label on each picture, detailing the different events as my form of journaling.

2014 Retreat

The three of us attending the retreat this year made a lot of progress on our scrapbook pages and had a great time doing it.

I threw all the stamp sets into a big container and brought them along ....

With our small numbers we had lots of space to spread out and work.....

The location is great, down a country road.  We were inside (scrapping of course) all the time, but the area was beautiful....

As with any good retreat, there were games and prizes.  On Saturday, Snoopy joined us in a game of Completion.  When you complete a page, Snoopy sits on your table, until the next person completes a page, then he moves to sit at their table.  When the random timer goes off, whoever has Snoopy wins a prize!

The next retreat will be scheduled in June 2015.  Check back for more details in September!

PML $3 Special!

As if all the new stuff in the catalog wasn't enticing enough, CTMH's special this month is for the Picture My Life programs. If you have been thinking about purchasing a PML set, this is the month to try it out.  Each set comes with 122 cards - which you can use in pocket scrapbooking, or in traditional scrapbooking (or even on cards) and 9 pocket pages, plus one 12X12 page, for a cover.  This special lets you purchase a second set of 10 pages - any design - for just $3!

Picture My Life programs are based upon current (Seaside, Wanderful, Chalk it up) and past (Pear & Partridge, For Always, Avonlea, Babycakes, Laughing Lola, Later Sk8r, Surf's Up, Skylark, Balloon Ride, and Chantilly) popular paper designs.  Check out the online catalog or go here to order your set!

Have a Lovely Day!

Another fantastic use of negative space.  After making a palm tree for a different layout, I used the stencil to make the following card:

Holding the stencil in place, I used a sponge to put Chocolate in the trunk area.  Using a sponge dauber, I swept Topiary up from the bottom of the leaves, then tapped the dauber on the top area of each leaf, to give it the two tone look.

Stamp sets were one new - Lovely Birthday (B1462) and one old Surf's Up workshop stamp set (retired).  I used bronze glitz at the base and Honey ink for the sun.

Leftovers

I've seen this tip around on other blogs, but don't remember exactly which one.  I took the leftover scraps after making all I could think of and made a couple more cards.  Start with a 1.25" square, and cut the rest of your paper into 1/2" strips.  Center the square and then start working your way around, pinwheel style.  Keep going until  your card is covered, then add your sentiment and other embellishments.

Artiste Cartridge, page 63
B is for Baby (D1561)
I stamped and cut the saddle to match, and used Liquid Glass and bakers twine for the tail.

Color Dare #102

Just a card for the Color My Heart challenge that used some cut items from my extra's box.

Several Cricut cuts - the flowers, the frame, the doily I then sponged with Indian Corn Blue.

Thanks A Melon

A thank you card from the Jubilee Kit.  The You're one in a Melon is a zip strip.  For the watermelons, I stamped in Topiary and Cranberry on Colonial White, cut, trimmed and combined the two.  I colored in the seeds with a black pen.  Afterwards, I thought a pink paper would have been good for the red part of the watermelon. The Thanks is from For Every Occasion (retired).

Something new, precut kit for August

If you are attending the crops at my house on Saturdays, the one in August will still be held the week after the retreat, on August 16, from 9am until 9pm.  The featured paper pack is Scaredy Cat - however, CTMH is not offering a kit with Scaredy Cat.  I have a few suggestions.

First - I've made these 3 layouts - 2 are from CTMH directions and one is unique.  I'm offering a kit to make these 6 pages for $40 ($48.50 if you would like it pre-stamped and mailed to you).  In the kit, you will receive
all the papers you need - precut and ready to assemble
     Black Striped Twill (Z1988, $6.95)
Sunset Chevron washi tape (Z2005, $7.95)
     Silver Sequins (Z2012, $2.95)
     Scaredy Cat assortment (Z3011, $6.95)
     Four page protectors (4110, $9.95 for 10)
     Assembly directions.

Pros of this kit - no leftover papers in your stock, just embellishments (twill, sequins and washi)  You will need to supply the adhesives (tape runner and foam tape). Interested in this kit and getting the stamp of the month for $5?  Contact me to see how this kit can get you half way to the qualifying order.

Second - purchase the needed papers in your own order and receive the cutting and assembly directions from me for free.  You will need the above items and to add a
Scaredy Cat paper pack (X7185B, $9.95)
1 sheet additional Grid/Orange design paper from Scaredy Cat paper pack, $.75
and the following from your current stash
Black glitter paper (Z1829, $5.95)**
Canary cardstock (X5772, $14.50)*
Slate cardstock (X5930, $14.50)*
Colonial cardstock (X1388, $9.50)*
Daisy cardstock (1385, $9.50)*

*Individual sheets of cardstock may be purchased from me for $.60 each or you can make substitutions.
**A very small amount of black glitter is needed, so a scrap will do or you can substitute black cardstock.

If you purchase the extra cardstock needed by the sheet, the cost is about the same as the first option, but you will have more duo paper from the Scaredy Cat paper pack left in your stash. I will provide you with the cutting directions.  All of your order will go towards the $50 minimum required to qualify to get the stamp of the month for $5.00.

Third - make you own kit with your own unique designs.  There are lots of options!

Artfully Sent - the new Cricut Cartridge

The new CTMH Cricut cartridge will be available in August.  This cartridge is to card markers what the Artbooking cartridge is to scrapbookers.  Wonderful 5X7 cards created in a flash.  It has the same price tag as the other $99, contains 700 images and comes with 3 super stamp sets (and who couldn't use another alphabet).  Instead of chipboard, you get a pack of white cardstock so you are ready to start making cards.

The images on the card are being held close to the vest until it's available to everyone.  Look for a workshop in November to help you get the most out of your new cartridge.

Living the Good Life

Items used:
Jubilee paper pack
Jubilee stamp (title)
Jubilee Assortment
Colonial White cardstock
Bohemian embellishments (retired)
Wooden assortment (retiring after July)
Brads

Here's how I did the twine:
Fold the twine in half, using brad to secure it.  The length needs to be about 2-3" longer than twice the distance you want to cover.

I used the stitching guide to line up the holes where I needed them.  For the left side, the holes are at 6", 8" and 10".  For the right side, it's centered over the square.

After attaching the twine with the brads, I flipped the page over and taped the tails down (regular old tape), pulling the ends one inch either way of the brad - so the brad at 10" has a taped tail at 11" and at 9" and so on.

I also added a couple of brads to the title.
